​2023 General Elections: Vote Not Fight - Olofin Of Isheri Advocates For Peaceful Elections, Urges Aworis To Shun Violence


In the early hours of Friday, 24th of February,  2023, the traditional emblem and progenitor of all Aworis, Olofin Asholesa, His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (Engr.) Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade, Ayodele Edun Alaka III, Arole Olofin Ogunfunminire, Olofin of Isheri and Adimula of the Source of Awori Kingdoms, has enjoined all Nigerian citizens and Awori indigenes in Lagos and Ogun State to shun all sorts of electoral violence, manipulations and disruptions, as they go out to perform their civic duty of electing new leadership for our dear country.


Olofin Asholesha in a press statement made available to the press, made it a point of concern as a father to all and the custodian of culture, traditions of the ancient city and cradle of Awori origin, whom has always preached the gospel of peace and unity amongst his subjects, has once again reiterated on the need for the electorates to go out and vote the candidates of their choice at the polls scheduled to hold with the Presidential and National Assembly Elections tomorrow Saturday, 25th February, 2023 while Governorship and State House of Assembly holds on Saturday, 11th of March, 2023.


Alayeluwa while urging citizens to troop out to vote, further advised all and sundry to shun illicit acts of violating the dictates of the law, laid down rules and regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all relevant security agencies, for them not to cause unnecessary societal unrest while performing their constitutional duties as citizens whom wants the progress of their fatherland.


Olofin in his Royal statement opined that "it is high time we prove to the international community that the democracy we now operate in Nigeria is a matured one, where all electoral candidates irrespective of their party, play by the rules of the electoral act (as amended) and the electorates in their own part, vote their choice without having to result to breakdown of law and order".


"It is on this note that I specially call on all Aworis in Lagos and Ogun State to contribute to the progress and development of our dear States and Nation by conducting themselves in a decorum manners, as i look forward to them making me a proud father of a peaceful clan." Kabiesi added.


Arole Olofin Ogunfunminire then concluded by wishing all electoral candidates the very best of luck at the polls while also urging them to take the voice of the people as the voice and will of the Almighty God.
