Naira And Fuel Scarcity: Aworis Are Peace Keepers Not Vandalizers, Olofin of Isheri Asserts, Urges Government To Restore Normalcy To Avert Unwanted Crisis

The Arole Olofin Ogunfunminire, His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Engr. Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade, Ayodele Ẹdun Alaka III, the Olofin of Isheri and Adimula of Awori Kingdoms, has confidently ascertained that Aworis wherever they might be, are peace keepers and not vandalizers of public/private owned properties under the disguise of protest of agitation.

The Olofin made this point of clarification known while addressing the press on the state of the nation after the meeting of prominent traditional rulers in the Southwest led by the Arole Oodua, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife and Co-chairman of National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN), with the former Governor of Lagos State and Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu held at Ibadan on Thursday, 16th February, 2023.

As the father and Natural head of Awori race, the Olofin posited that "at no point would any citizen that has genuine blood of Awori running through their veins be seen vandalizing or causing societal unrest in the name of agitating or protesting on the situation of the country. It is important to note that Aworis are peace lovers and one of the few group of people that would always act in line with the dictates of the law in either supporting or constructively criticizing the mistakes of the government in a way that will enhance the development and unity of our beloved country and not the other way round.

While appealing to each and every aggrieved citizens involved in this act to not take laws into their hands, to avoid unnecessary escalation of crisis in our communities as the government finds solution in due time to the hardship been faced by all and sundry.

"Alayeluwa Arole Olofin Ogunfunminire also used the occasion to urge the Government at all levels to find a lasting way as a matter of urgency to curb the menace of Naira and fuel scarcity that has recently been hindering the peace, social and economic affair of our people.

However, it is our duty as traditional rulers to always call our people to order at every point in time, and we've always been doing that but we also need the government to help us do the right things at the right time, for our people to enjoy the dividends of the true democracy they are being promised in the cause of campaign at every electioneering season.

Our workers do not have fuel to drive to work, our traders and market women cannot sell the goods because their customers do not have cash at hand to purchase, our banks are always filled to the brim with all sorts of excuses, businesses are gradually shutting down and our children can not even go to school as parents do not have access to their bank accounts. All these amongst other tangible reasons is why the government needs to get it right for normalcy to be restored back to the country.

"We must also remember the agitations that led to the birth of the Endsars protest, and as traditional rulers we are always ready to cooperate with the government in ensuring to work together in the interest of our people, to find solutions that will bring an end to policies that would always bring about the situation where our people gets to have cause to protest.

As a matter of fact, this reoccurring scarcity/price hike in fuel and the recent old and new Naira swap that has resulted to the scarcity of both, is really affecting the day to day affairs of every citizens of the country irrespective of the status, which making it almost impossible to put food on the table, and poverty instead of getting alleviated is rather fast rising. Olofin concluded.

The meeting of traditional rulers from across the Southwest States had enough representation of prominent Awori Obas amongst which are; HRM Oba Kabiru Adelaja Agbabiaka, Osolo of Isolo, HRM Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Oniru of Iru Land, HRM Saheed Ademola, Elegushi of Ikate Land, HRM Raji Okikiola Sulaimon, Oniba Ẹkun of Iba.

It was a huge success to see leading royal crowns like Oba Francis Olushola Alao, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Aderemi Adedapo Alayemoore Of Ido-osun Osun, Oba Ajibade  Gbadegesin Ogunoye III Olowo of Owo, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun III, Oba Aderemi Adedapo Alayemoore Of Ido-osun Osun, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Olu and Paramount Ruler of Ilaro, Oba Adekunle Adegboye, Oore of Ọtun-Ekiti, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, Alara of Ilara-Epe and many others.
