OLOFIN OF ISHERI BAGS UNILORIN HUMANITARIAN AWARD, URGE GOVERNMENT TO CONSIDER 3% REPS PROPOSAL ON STUDENTS LOAN
His Royal Majesty, the Arole Olofin Ogunfunminire, Olofin Asholesha, Alayeluwa Oba (Engr.) Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade, Ayodele Ẹdun Alaka III, the Olofin of Isheri, Adimula and natural head of all Awori Kingdoms, was honoured with an Humanitarian Award by the Students Union leadership of University of Ilorin on Saturday, 12th August, 2023.
Kabiesi Olofin Adimula who was invited as the Guest Royal father of the great and auspicious event, alongside other very important personalities across different works of life was awarded for his exceptional dedication, unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions to human capital development, at the Institution's Student's Entrepreneurship Summit organized by the Development Oriented administration of the Students Union leadership.
Alayeluwa while sending his Royal message for the honour, appreciated the Students Union and the School Authority for the award and also apologized for his unavoidable absence at the program which collided with his kingdom's festivals. He further urged Nigerian students across their various institutions to always consider emulating this kind of life-changing initiatives that would help contribute to preparing them for a better future.
"It is high time our students start making better use of their time and energy to take their academics very important and also consider vocational trainings/business skills that will inturn help prepare them to be future entrepreneurs and self-employed rather than waiting for white-collar jobs. As we all know that nowadays, entrepreneurship and self-employment has become catalyst to building an economic friendly nation."
"I also use this opportunity to urge the federal government under the led administration of our dear President, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to please consider the recommendation of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Students Loan Fund and Access to Higher Education on increasing to 3% as against the initial 1% for students loan from revenue generated annually, before the implementation of the Students Loans scheme which is scheduled to commence during the 2023/2024 academic session."
Olofin Asholesha then concluded by appreciating and praying for the Students and Staff of University of Ilorin for the award and also urge them to keep up with the good work of building a better future together.
