Protest: IGP Egbetokun, NYC, Set To Host Nigeria Police Youth Summit

As part of his efforts to listening to the plights and demands of Nigerian Youths, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun is set to host an all inclusive Nigerian youths dialogue tagged "Nigeria Police Youth Summit" with the theme "Enhancing Nigerian Youth Value for National Security Intelligence" at the Police Resource Center, Abuja.

This program which is scheduled to hold on Monday 12th of August, 2024, is said to have been targeted at having a constructive dialogue between the Nigerian Youths and the Police Force, in order to find a way of creating a friendly society where mutual respect is institutionalized between the civilians and security agencies.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a letter addressed to the President of Nigerian Youth Coalition (NYC), Aare Oladotun Hassan Esq. said the summit is set to hold at this critical time in furtherance of the vision of the IGP's vision for a safe and secure country, and the nurturing of Nigerian Youth Talent for National Security and Intelligence in commemoration of 2024 National Youths Day.

This Summit is designated as a Police-Youth collaboration with the government to deepen youth participation in nation building, governance, economy, peace and national security.

While welcoming the Police Inspector General's acceptance to this summit, the President of Nigerian Youth Coalition who doubles as the President of Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide, Aare Dotun Hassan, identified the synergy as a critical plank in realizing and actualizing the open door policy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He further revealed that the Nigerian Police Youth Summit offers a hand-shake and more friendly atmosphere between the Nigerian Youth stakeholders and the Nigerian Security Agency most especially the Police to come together to actively engage in a robust dialogue that will give room for more Youth inclusiveness in governance and decision-making.

Also corroborating, Ogbeni Ajibode Abd'kabir, the Assistant Secretary-General, Nigerian Youth Coalition, acknowledged and a well appreciated the sense of belonging and responsibility the IGP is giving to the Nigerian Youths especially in this very strategic moment in the country, he said this Summit will surely drive youth participation in development of the country, give adequate security intelligence, relations and consciousness.

The event would provide an important platform for Nigerian youths to hold rich dialogues with the Inspector General of police and proffer actionable resolutions that will help build a better country for all and sundry. It is expected that these ideas can inform policy-making by the government of the day and future administrations.
