Awori Youths Hail President Tinubu On Planned Youth Confab, Suggests Trasitional Youth Leaders Representation

The youth-wing of the apex Awori subethnic interest group across Lagos, Ogun State and Diaspora; Awori Welfare Association Nigeria - AWAN, has thrown their weight and expressed support to the recently announced National Youth Confab by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR while addressing the nation on Nigeria’s Independence Day.

The group of indigenous youth leaders of Awori origin in their joint statement made available to the press, expressed satisfaction to Mr President’s initiative aimed at engaging the nation's youth in decision making and inclusion in national development discussions.

The group’s spokesman, Ogbeni Ajibode Abdulkabir explained that the decision to bring the youths across the country to a gathering of purposeful discussion, is worthy to applause for the President Tinubu's led federal government for recognizing the critical role played by the youths in shaping the future of Nigeria, describing the proposed 30-days National Youth Confab as a welcome and commendable development towards youth empowerment and inclusion.

However, he suggested that the Presidency and the organizing committee of the Confab should consider traditional youth leaders of indigenous kingdoms who are the closest to the grassroots with full knowledge of the nooks and crannies of all their communities. And in doing that, it has to come through the recommendations of the traditional rulers across the states of the federation.

According to Ajibode, for the conference to be truly impactful and meaningful, the selection of delegates to attend this very serious event should not be a partisan affair but rather be all inclusive to include representatives from various local, regional, sub-ethnic and ethnic backgrounds in the country. He emphasized that making the event all-inclusive would promote unity and encourage constructive conversations on the challenges and opportunities facing the country most especially as it affected the youths constituency.

“The Youth Confab presents a unique opportunity to foster a broad-based representation of Nigerian youths," Ogbeni Ajibode opined. He reiterated the immense appreciation of the entire Awori Youths across the world as it was demonstrated at the monthly Awori Welfare Association of Nigeria - AWAN general meeting held at Awori House, Oregun on Saturday 5th October, 2024, and presided over by the President, Alh. Muhammad A. Olagbaye, where prominent Awori personalities expressed confidence that the confab will serve as a catalyst for youth and national development.
