Ibese Community Call For YNLG Consideration And Inclusion In Policy Making
Ibese community under the auspices of Ibese Progressive Union has urged for consideration and inclusion of the community and its environs in the Yewa North Local Government Policy Making.
The group in a statement made available to the press through Mr Oladitan Sodeeq, made this point of call to the Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Dr Olusola Akinbode, on Monday morning, to consider the distance between Ibese community and the Local Government Secretariat in Ayetoro.
Mr Sodeeq who raised this point of concern said the people of Ibese Community and its environs has always felt sidelined when it comes to benefiting from Government policies and empowerments, most especially when it has to do with such benefits situated at the Local Government Secretariat in Ayetoro, he said this has always happened that the people of Ibese has always rhetorically asked why the community had to be part of Yewa North.
He said the only time our community is always very considered as part of the local government is only during electioneering campaign seasons and after that, we get nothing to show for actively participating in elections. He further explained that it is understandable that Yewa North is one of the largest local governments in Ogun State and that fact has made some of our communities faced this situation of not been attended to or considered during policy making exercises and distribution of palliatives/empowerments.
The group then urged the leadership of Yewa North local government under the led administration of Dr Olusola Samuel Akinbode to consider establishing a liaison office of the Local Government in far distanced communities where citizens find it difficult to come down to the secretariat due to the distance or high cost of transportation.
“We have had several cases where we just hear that distributions of palliatives and other empowerments happen and when we try very hard to mobilize our people down to the secretariat, we get there only to hear that the distribution has closed. So, situations like that are always very discouraging.”
“Although, there are so many other situations that needs the local government urgent attention but we just urge our amiable Local Government Chairman to consider heeding to our cries for our people to also benefit and feel the presence of government.”
“The ongoing plans to boost agriculture and food production is a commendable development from Dr Olusola Akinbode’s administration, and despite the large numbers of farmers in Ibese community, it is just too difficult for our people to take part in the registration of the empowerment. We believe something can be done for Ibese community and its environs to also be part of this very laudable initiative.” The statement concludes.
